Description

Mirapex (Pramipexole dihydrochloride) is a prescription drug that is used in the treatment of patients of Restless Legs Syndrome. This is a condition that causes the patient to get an aching and burning feeling in the legs, crawling sensation and an irresistible urge to move their legs. The condition gets severe as evening falls and night approaches and it stops the patient from getting proper sleep. Mirapex (Pramipexole dihydrochloride) relieves all these symptoms.

How to use

Mirapex (Pramipexole dihydrochloride) should be taken only if it has been prescribed by the doctor. The doctor’s directions should be followed for determining the proper dosage. Medication should be carried on for as long as the treatment lasts. Stopping medication midway because of an apparent reduction in symptoms is forbidden as it may lead to relapse of the condition. The medication is generally prescribed to be taken once a day before bedtime. It can be administered with or without food. Care should be taken to make sure that doses are not missed.

Side Effects

Mirapex (Pramipexole dihydrochloride) may lead to side effects in some patients. Common among them are sleepiness and nausea. These symptoms are not serious and usually go away within a few days of starting medication. Serious side effects of the drug are falling asleep while performing daily activities, low blood pressure, fainting, sweating, dizziness and hallucinations. If any of these symptoms are noticed in a patient who is being administered Mirapex (Pramipexole dihydrochloride), emergency medical help should be called for.

Storage

Mirapex (Pramipexole dihydrochloride) should preferably be stored in an air-tight container at room temperature. It should be kept out of reach of children.
Precaution

Before prescribing Mirapex (Pramipexole dihydrochloride) for the treatment of Restless Legs Syndrome, a doctor should be aware if the patient consumes alcohol, takes any other medications, is pregnant or planning to become pregnant, is breastfeeding, has any sleep disorder, is allergic to Pramixole, has any kidney disease or has low blood pressure. Only after evaluation of these conditions should a doctor prescribe the medication.
