Side Effects
Common side effects that occur in patients who are being administered Neurontin (Gabapentin) are drowsiness, unsteadiness, vision changes, nausea, constipation, dizziness, fatigue, weight gain and dry mouth. If any of these symptoms worsen, the doctor should be informed as soon as possible.
Serious, but unlikely side effects of this medication are swelling in the arms and legs, shaking, tremors, mood changes, behavioral changes and lack of coordination. If any of these symptoms occur, the doctor should be called for immediately.
There are some side effects that are extremely rare but very serious. They are sore throat, persistent fever, cough, unusual bleeding, easy bruising, trouble breathing, hearing loss, irregular heartbeat, redness and pain in the arms and legs and abdominal pain.
Neurontin (Gabapentin) may cause changes in mood. Symptoms of mood change include anxiety, hostility, thought of suicide, agitation, depression and rapid speech.
