Stablon Generic (Tianeptine) is a prescription neuro-protective anti-depressant that is known to reverse the process of neuronal damage and the lasting effects of uncontrolled chronic stress. Stablon Generic (Tianeptine) should be administered according to the doctor’s advice. Generally the dosage is 3 tablets a day for most patients. They have to be taken in the morning, at midday and in the evening.

An elderly patient would generally be prescribed 2 tablets a day.

For patients of depression, maintenance therapy has to be continued for a period of 3-6 months after the acute episode of the illness goes away.

For patients who have gone through two or more depressive episodes in the last five years, long-term prophylactic therapy using this drug should be considered.

Stablon Generic (Tianeptine) may cause side effects in some patients. The following side effects are usually mild and rare in occurrence.

• Faintness
• Respiratory trouble
• Lumbago

If in case any of these side effects do occur, the doctor should be immediately notified.

Stablon Generic (Tianeptine) may cause drug interactions when administered simultaneously with other drugs. Special caution should be maintained in case of MAO inhibitors (including Gerovital-H3), SSRIs (Prozac) and other anti-depressants.

Stablon Generic (Tianeptine) is used in the treatment and management of the following conditions:

• Chronic stress
• Anxiety
• Major depression
• Bipolar disorder
• Dysthymia
• Adjustment disorder

Stablon Generic (Tianeptine) is also known to act as a mood brightener. The reason why this anti-depressant is preferred by doctors all over is because it is non-sedative and is much safer to use.

Stablon Generic (Tianeptine) should be stored in the container it came in. The cap should be secured tightly after each use. The drug has to be stored in a dry area at room temperature. It should be kept out of reach of children and pets. After it has been used or when it is no longer needed, the container should be disposed off in a proper way.

Stablon Generic (Tianeptine) should not be administered without it being prescribed by a doctor.

This drug is not meant to be administered along with a MAO inhibitor as it may cause adverse drug interactions. In fact, there should be a gap of at least 15 days between taking both the medications.

Stablon Generic (Tianeptine) should not be prescribed to pregnant women and mothers who are breastfeeding their babies unless absolutely required.

This drug is not recommended for children as the safety of it has not yet been confirmed.

A patient who has to undergo surgery should stop the administration of Stablon Generic (Tianeptine) at least 24-48 hours before the operation.
