Vertin is the composition of active and inactive ingredients. The active ingredient of Vertin is Betahistine dihydrochloride which is a medicine which closely resembles the natural substance histamine. Vertin (Betahistine dihydrochloride) is available in a form of tablets. There are two different strengths of tablet available; 8mg and 16mg. It is used to prevent and treat the symptoms of motion sickness like nausea, vomiting and dizziness. It is also used to relieve the symptoms like ringing in ears (tinnitus), spinning sensation (vertigo); dizziness and hearing trouble caused by the disease that affects the inner ear known as Meniere’s disease. There is a fluid present in the special structure of the ear known as labyrinth. The fluid by the help of blood vessels present in labyrinth gives the feedback to the brain about the position of the body. Disturbance in the balance of fluid is known as Meniere’s disease. This imbalance of fluid may occur due to an increase of pressure of fluid. Vertin (Betahistine dihydrochloride) works by activating histamine receptors present on the walls of blood vessels in the inner ear. The activation on the receptors a process starts which eventually decrease the pressure of the fluid and helps in relieving the symptoms associated with it.

To avoid motion sickness Vertin (Betahistine dihydrochloride) tablet should be taken 30 minutes to 1 hour before travelling. The recommended dosage is 1 tablet once daily at the same time of the day or as directed by the physician.
It is an oral medication and should be taken by mouth; and can be taken with or without food or as directed by the physician.
For Meniere’s disease, the recommended initial dosage should be lower as 8mg once daily or as directed by the physician.
Inform the physician if the condition does not improve.

Common adverse effects indicated using Vertin (Betahistine dihydrochloride) medication are dry mouth, indigestion or heartburn, constipation, abdominal pain, headache, pruritus, diarrhea, blurred vision, change in vision, allergic reactions like rash, itching, swelling and hives.

Vertin (Betahistine dihydrochloride) medicine has a drowsy effect. The physician should be consulted if any other drugs are being taken concomitantly with this medicine; especially the drugs with drowsy effects like sleeping drugs, narcotic pain drugs, tranquillizers, anti-seizures drugs and drugs for cough and cold and allergies.
Without the approval of the physician, no medicine should be started or should be stopped suddenly.

Vertin (Betahistine dihydrochloride) medication is used for treating vertigo, tinnitus and hearing problem associated with Meniere’s disease, a disorder of an inner ear. It is also used to treat nausea, vomiting and dizziness associated with motion sickness.

Store Vertin (Betahistine dihydrochloride) tablets at a temperature between 15o-30oC (59o-86oF). Protect from direct sunlight, heat and humidity. Keep away from children and pets.
A brief storage at a temperature of 40oC (104oF) is also permitted.

Patients should avoid Vertin (Betahistine dihydrochloride) medication and consult the physician if he/she is suffering from peptic ulcer or asthma or has a history of these diseases or having adrenal gland tumor.
Lactating mothers and pregnant women should be cautious.
Individuals with allergy to any of the ingredients of Vertin (Betahistine dihydrochloride) should avoid the medication.
