Description
The only useful form of vitamin c that is required in skin care product is L-Ascorbic. Vitamin C is the only antioxidant that is proven to stimulate the synthesis of collagen. It acts as an antioxidant by regenerating vitamin E. With the age the production of natural collagen decreases. This decrease in collagen production loses the youthfulness of the skin. Sun exposure also accelerates the decrease in collagen. This decrease causes the lines and wrinkles on skin and scars, which can be minimized by vitamin c. Vitamin C also acts as a Melanin inhibitor by restricting the production of melanin which gives the dark color to the skin. By doing so it lightens and brightens the skin within few weeks of regular application. When the skin is injured the vitamin c is used up fast to heal the injury. Hence, vitamin c acts as a skin repairer too.
Kojic acid is a natural product derived from fungus such as mushroom. It acts as an inhibitor of melanin which helps to lighten the pigment spots and skin discoloration. From the conversion of amino acid tyrosine, melanin is produced. Enzyme tyrosinase is required for the conversion of tyrosine. Kojic acid by its synthesizing reaction with antioxidant properties restricts tyrosinase enzymes. It is also used for curing freckles, acne, pigmentation and spots in elders. It eliminates free radicals and strengthens cell activity.
